The minimum academic requirements for polytechnic diploma level admission through lateral entry to a particular programme are as follows. Candidates will be admitted to the 3rd semester of the polytechnic diploma course, only if they have passed the higher secondary examination, VHSE examination or its equivalent with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, in any one of the vocational subjects with a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate. Those with SSLC/THSLC plus two year ITI certificate, with 50% marks in the final examination, shall be eligible for admission to the second year of the three year polytechnic diploma programme in the related branch, provided the candidate has passed the SSLC/THSLC examination with eligibility for higher studies. In case seats are remaining vacant from VHSE/Plus two levels, ITI certificate holders will be considered for admission on those seats also. ITI certificate holders seeking admission to the polytechnic diploma course should have two years ITI course after SSLC and should have studied the subjects as per the curriculum through the two year ITI course.
